Ketamine, which used as an anesthetic for human and animal use, is the only know type of Ketamine available for users in the United States. Many veterinarian clinics in the U.S. have reported robberies mainly for their Ketamine supply. Most of the Ketamine that we have in the United States derives from pharmacies in Mexico. One of the reasons that this drug is so dangerous is because; it is a "club drug". A club drug is a controlled substance that is usually used at clubs or raves. Ketamine is a perfect example of a club drug, because of how easy it is to use. Ketamine liquid can be injected, applied to smokable material, or consumed in drinks. There is also a powdered form of the drug, where when you break it down it looks very similar to cocaine. The powder can also be dissolved, smoked, put into drinks, and also injected. Users also say that Ketamine is better than LSD and PCP, one of the reasons is because, the trip lasts only about an hour or less. Low doses of Ketamine will give the user an experience called "K-Land" a very mellow and colorful world that contains no real dangerous images to spook or create a bad environment for the user. Larger doses give the user a different type of experience celled "K-Hole", this is a little different then the mellow and colorful world of K-Land. K-Hole is an out of body/near death experience, giving the user a more extreme trip. Ketamine is also used as a date rape drug in the club scene, because of its dissociative effect on the mind and body. Low doses are from 25mg-100mg one gram of Ketamine can cause death.

Effects: numbness, loss of coordination, sense of invulnerability, muscle rigidity, aggressive/violent behavior, slurred or blocked speech, exaggerated sense of strength, and a blank stare. Because the drug is an anesthetic it stops the user from feeling pain. Ketamine might also relieve tension and anxiety, is used as a sexual stimulant, and intensifies colors and sounds. Effects of chronic use of Ketamine may take from several months to two years to wear off completely. Long-term effects include tolerance and possible physical and/or psychological dependence. Even after users are done using Ketamine flashbacks can still occur up to a year later.
