D-lysergic acid diethylamide also know as LSD and acid is the most powerful and dangerous Hallucinogenic known to man. To compare how powerful it is compared to cocaine and heroin, LSD is measured in micro grams (millionth of a gram), where cocaine and heroin are measured in milli grams (thousandth of a gram). LSD is 100 times more potent than psilocybin and psilocin and 4,000 times more potent than mescaline. To successfully get a hallucinogen effect from LSD an average human must use about 25 micro grams. LSD was first created in 1938 by Albert Hoffman who was working for
a pharmaceutical
company in Germany. The chemist was trying to come up with a remedy to
help
prevent headaches. He discovered the hallucinogenic part of the drug in
1943.
The drug was first widely used in the 1960's, mainly by hippies. Hippies started to use LSD,
because
of the hallucinogenic factor that created sense altering stages where
they had enhanced
creativity and awareness. Pure LSD is a white colored drug and easily
dissolves
in water. LSD was listed as a Schedule I drug under the Controlled
Substance
Act of 1970, meaning that it has no medical or legal uses and has a
high
potential for abuse. The user usually feels the effects of LSD after
about 30-90 minutes of taking the drug. The effects of LSD vary which
is why the drug is so dangerous you never know what is going to happen.
LSD is a very difficult drug to create in a home laboratory
and many of the ingredients needed for the drug to have the right
effects are
very hard to find. But, because LSD is very potent you only need a
small amount
to get the desired effects. LSD is sold in many forms such as, Micro
dots (tiny
pills), Windowpane (liquid LSD applied to thin squares of gelatin), and
it also
sold as little bits of blotter paper (LSD sprayed onto blotter paper
and
dried). |

Effects of LSD: Dilated pupils, higher body temperature, increased heart rate and blood pressure, sweating, loss of appetite, sleeplessness, dry mouth, and tremors. The user may feel several different emotions at once or quickly change from one emotion to the other. Depending on the dose, the drug can produce delusions and visual hallucinations, which can be frightening and cause panic. This is what LSD users calla bad trip and the effects last for about twelve hours. The most dangerous part about the "bad trip" is that the user feels like everything that is going on is real, and therefore users can cause much harm to themselves and others. Anyone can experience a bad trip and there is no way to predict what your own experience will be.
